The Women's Studies Resource Centre is a library specialising in feminist resources for the education sector (secondary, tertiary and TAFE students and staff) and the community.

We provide resources particularly for students, teachers and lecturers of Women's Studies, Women's Education and Gender Studies courses at a high school, TAFE and University level.

However, our library is open to all those in the community looking for academic information on, about, or by women.

The library was established in 1975 in response to the shortage of resources available for the emerging Women's Studies curriculum in secondary schools. Over the years, our collection has grown to include a wide variety of materials, including almost 20,000 books, periodicals, videos/DVDs and posters.

Our areas of focus include:
  • feminist and gender theory;
  • women and the law, culture and society, history (herstory) and current affairs relating to women and feminism ;
  • women's wellbeing and empowerment, women's associations with religion and feminist spirituality;
  • women and work, housework, childcare, small business, corporate life and the work/life balance;
  • women in mathematics, engineering, science, the law, politics, academia and the trades;
  • famous women, artists, writers, women in film, women and creativity;
  • international and global impacts on women, women and society in other countries,
  • and many more...

    Our library service is open to everyone, and we are happy to deal with enquiries and requests by phone, fax, email or in person.  We offer a comfortable, pleasant, safe space in which patrons can read, browse, study or meet with friends and colleagues.

    We are part of the DECS courier system and can courier resources to and from school (public schools and some private schools) or TAFE libraries throughout South Australia.

    Groups are welcome to use the WSRC for meetings, conferences and classes - contact us today to book your class in for an orientation session.
